New York, USA, August 2026. Dominican cinema once again won over New York audiences with the presentation of “Entiérrenlo Parao,” a comedy directed by Ronni Castillo that formed part of the program of the 15th Dominican Film Festival in New York (DFFNYC).
The film had its international premiere in New York, where it was received by a full house and featured the presence of actresses Yorlla Castillo and Hony Estrella, who shared with the audience during the event dedicated to Dominican film production. The festival itself highlighted the strong reception the film received during its presentation.
“Entiérrenlo Parao” is a comedy built on a premise as unusual as it is Dominican: what happens when a powerful drug lord dies and his final wish is to be buried standing up?
The story revolves around Don Adrián, a famous capo whose peculiar request unleashes chaos among his relatives and throughout the town. What begins as a three-day wake becomes a chain of entanglements, secrets, family conflicts and unexpected situations, as everyone has something to say about the deceased’s final wish.
The film embraces situational comedy with elements of dark humor and an irreverent look at family relationships and the particular dynamics of a Dominican community.
Under Ronni Castillo’s direction, the production brings together a notable cast led by Yorlla Castillo, who also serves as producer, along with Hony Estrella and Aquiles Correa. The cast also includes Amauris Pérez, Pachy Méndez, Madison Díaz, Paula Disla and other performers.
The screenplay was written by Natalia Peralta and Miguel Yarull, while Castillo’s direction shapes a story that uses absurdity and humor to portray the tensions, secrets and contradictions that can emerge within a family and community when faced with an extraordinary situation.
With humor, unexpected situations and a story built around a very peculiar final wish, “Entiérrenlo Parao” found in New York an audience ready to laugh at the antics of Don Adrián and a family that, even in the face of death, discovers that the secrets and problems are only just beginning.
